During the month of November the Club 56 students were studying the Virtue of Cooperation.

So we presented a challenge.

One Dollar Water. One Dollar Water is a initiative hosted by Living Water International.

A child dies every 15 seconds because of the lack of clean water. It costs an average of $0.98 to provide clean, safe water to one person for one year.

The Challenge was to save one dollar a day for 30 days.

We are so proud to announce that the Club 56 students have raised $152.22! That is enough money to provide 152 people with Clean Drinkable Water for one whole year!

We are so proud of you guys! Nicely Done Club 56 Students!

Parents:  We are your partners.  We love your kids and consider them family.  We hope the following FAQ section will be a helpful start in answering any questions you may have concerning this change.

Time:  every service—at 9 and 10:45
Where:  The upstairs classroom—Room B240

Why are we doing this? Many 5th graders are already feeling as if they need to move ahead, and many 6th graders are not quite ready for youth group.  We believe that this period of time is critical in the spiritual formation of any person.  We see a critical need to be purposeful and create transitional space that fits the development of this age.

Who is teaching? Parrish DuPree will be teaching the first service, and Vicki Petkevich will be teaching second service.  They will have other wonderful workers who will be assisting them as well.

What if my kid doesn’t want to? All of the kids will be doing this together, so we think that your child will want to be a part of Club 56.  We ask that you try it for 2 months.  At that point, if you believe your child is struggling, please come talk to us.  Your child is valuable.  The reason we are beginning Club 56 is because we are trying to give a space for everyone to fit it, but we recognize that it is still a transition and that every kid is different.

I’ve heard of Remix Sunday. What is that? Remix is on the first Sunday of the month.  It provides an opportunity for the kids to see what it’s like for those just older than they are.  So, on a Remix Sunday, Club 56 will meet with the 7th and 8th graders in the Youth Loft.  The 9th and 10th graders, who normally meet with the 7th and 8th, will be in the main service with the adults and the 11th and 12th graders.  Again, on the first Sunday of the month, Club 56 will meet in the loft.

I still have questions.  What do I do? Please contact Nancy Southern (281-240-8463, ext 106 or nancy@slvineyard.org) or Ryan Kolacinski (281-240-8463, ext. 105 or ryan@slvineyard.org).  We will be happy to discuss it with you.
